A paradise for art-lovers and one of the most fascinating museums on earth, exploring the Met is a must when visiting The Big Apple!
The largest art museum in the US and one of the most visited in the world, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, nicknamed ‘The Met’, boasts an incredible collection of over two million artworks, ranging from millenia-old artefacts through to contemporary pieces, and encompassing some of the most celebrated artists of all time!
NYC is a great year round destination, but during peak seasons, can be extremely busy and expensive, therefore the shoulder seasons of Spring and Autumn are the best periods to visit.
A number of airlines operate regular direct flights from London to NYC, including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Norwegian Air. Alternatively a host of airlines offer one stop flights via various European cities.
A smaller offshoot of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Met Cloisters Gallery specialises in European medieval art and architecture.
The Met Museum’s collections are so extensive that we recommend setting aside a whole day. However, it is possible to see the main highlights in 3/4 hours.
